The event is multi-layered in terms of purpose: young kids, mostly boys, are given the opportunity to get their fill of baseball (my grandson Aidan played in a total of Five games yesterday and today); it provides family fun on Father's Day for "lots" of families, and it brings in lots of "cash" to the TriCities.
"According to the Tri-Cities Visitor and Convention Bureau, the Slugfest will generate an estimated $1,077,300 in direct visitor spending in the Tri-Cities." Tri City Herald, June 17, 2012.
Ah ANOTHER great drawing and ANOTHER great opportunity to get out the USTC (is that right?) to document a HUGE Tri-Cities event to send to the Herald. DANG - one of these days...
ReplyDeleteI really like how everything gets lighter and lighter the further back into the drawing it goes - great depth! Nice highlight on the 2 people in front (the shadow helps)!
thanks nancy. USkTC (Urban Sketchers: TriCities) or USkTC WA, if you want to get all fancy and stuff about it. The shadow does help, but the color is wrong.
DeleteI have a lot to learn from you guys....not only on the sketching.I love your sketches, but I don't know how to comment on them yet, therefore I am learning on this area also.
