falling snow and crackling fire

Silver Star Ski Resort in Vernon, British Columbia is where one can find authentically wonderful Swiss/Austrian fine cuisine.  Even Isidores' desserts were made fresh, Creme bruele/afters and their chocolate mousse extraordinaire!!!   While the snow was falling, I sketched this mountain village scene, it was fun getting my water colour paper snowed upon!
Urban Sketcher's, Tri-Cities met up on Wednesday at Bookwalter Winery, Richland Wa.
I was appreciative of our hosts to open their doors to just under 20 of us a bit earlier than their regular hours.  It was a chilly and rainy morning,  I snagged a seat around the fire pit, obviously so did some of the others!  Guess which feet are Jim's our proud leader?  I loved the glass that my coffee was served in and I really enjoyed the avocado poppers for lunch.   patti kirch

USkTC Show: Richland Library, March 22-31, 2015

click the pic to see the show

We hung some of our sketches at the Richland Public Library today, thanks to Yichien Cooper who offered us the last week of her month long show of her students' work. We had to work through the "how-to" to hang on these accordioned panels and enjoyed each others' company in doing so.  All it all - They Look Good!

LtoR:  Patty Gardner, Katherine Rice, Cassandra Wald, Felicia Follum, Jim Bumgarner, Gail Roadhouse and Yichien Cooper.

Not pictured:  Denis Bowles, Cindy Rutherford, Nancy Parks, Sophie Calvey, Jean Fu and Dave Poynter.

Catch our next show at Cheese Louise in May.

Tennis Huddle, Snow Geese Gaggle and Apres Ski

The epitome of USTA Tennis at 7:30am in Richland,WA..  The Columbia Basin Racquet Club's 3.0 Women's Team was warming up to new age music before their very first competition.  So wonderfully exciting!  I was setting up the hospitality before the long weekend of match play and snuck in this huddle sketch.
Not only was it Snow Geese Migration time at McNary Wildlife Refuge, but symbolic of friendships moving apart and just flights across the country away from each other.  Actually, I sketched this right after I finished with my tennis pro duties up above.  I just noticed that I marked the date down wrong.    Too much time and distance between friends.  While my friend, Jeannine was moving clear across to melting Buffalow, I was heading up north.....
Sneaking in a ski week and visit with my sister at Big White Ski Resort in British Columbia, Canada.  We were welcomed with 4" of fresh snow and blue skies for the first three days of skiing.  Up on the mountain, their ski village is so friendly and filled with fun sketching options.

Practicing perspectives at Beaver Bark

It was so much fun and challenging at Beaver Bark sketching. I could've been there forever, if my energy level allowed me.

I stayed outside of its building to practice sketching perspectives.

"Food Trucks in John Dam Plaza, Richland, WA"

We met this morning in John Dam Plaza in Richland, WA., to sketch the food trucks there.  Food trucks are just beginning to catch on here in the Tri-Cities (Kennewick, Pasco, Richland) and we wanted to get our sketching in near the ground floor of all the planning and excitement.  Though there are only 16 sketchers in the pic, we had 18 this morning: a new record.

Check out our outing, and who we are, in an article published in the TriCityHerald this morning.

A nice day at John Dam Plaza

I am afraid of sketching cars/trucks and people, so I wasn't planning on going to the event. I am glad that I changed my mind and went, because I had a really good time there sketching.

I have not posted here for a very long time, so I guess I have to show my feeble attempt here, before I get kicked out.

This Feels Urban :)

Sketching in John Dam Plaza this morning with the Tri City Urban Sketchers felt like we have a little bit of urban life going on here in the T.C.  Now to go back and taste the food!
