Inside the Pasco Courthouse

Here is my drawing from yesterday's Sketch Outing.
This is a beautiful building; full of great challenges for perspective and detail!
This darn little thing took me at least 1.5 hours - maybe more like 2!

We had Mexican food for lunch afterward - Viva la Pasco!

"Franklin County Courthouse"

A series of my sketches of the Franklin County Courthouse in Pasco, Washington.
In 1912 the bid of Mishko & Grant of $74,215 was accepted for a new courthouse in Pasco, Franklin County, Washington.  The architect was C. Lewis Wilson and Col. of Seattle.

In 2005 a state grant of $2.7 million was used for historical restoration.

Sharehouse Coffee, Richland WA, lapoynte

Out Urban Sketching with Jim Bumgarner and we stopped for coffee at Sharehouse.

This is the original sketch overlayed.

"Sharehouse Coffee"

Went sketching this morning with D. Lapoynte at the new Sharehouse Coffee Shop on the intersection of Queensgate and Gage this morning.  The place is large and there was a fairly large group of people who came through while we were there - making people sketching good.  I did 4 or 5 quick sketches and this one won the lottery for entry onto the blog page.

Atomic Ale, Richland WA, lapoynte

I stopped in at the Atomic Ale Brew Pub for lunch. This is a great little place and holds with the city's nuclear past. Thank you Christine for recomending the Pizza of the day.

This Saturday at the 509Artspace (if it's still there!) we are having a 3 hour session of Figure Drawing.  Our model would love to either purchase her favorite drawing when we're finished or arranged to have another session where she can get something she can give as a gift.  We will start at 10:00 am and to to 1:00 with just a couple warm ups then a long pose for the rest of the period.

The cost will be $10, if we can get 4 people, so please RSVP to let me know if you're coming.  If we don't have enough, we will postpone the session for a couple weeks and get the word out again.

THANKS!  Nancy

"Quick and Loose"

I've been taking this little sketchbook everywhere with me since my sister gave it to me for Christmas; the tooth on the paper and the flesh tone make it quite fun to draw on.  And I've been using it to practice some really quick and loose drawings.

This one on the top is from today when my g-daughter played, on her 8th birthday, before a crowd of thousands packed into this small gym.

The bottom one is from a week ago when I was sitting in the far corner of the same gym and first noted how all the people had so politely lined up in perfect perspective for me.

I'm sort of wishing I hadn't written down the middle of the drawing.  It would have been placed better across the bottom of the official's feet.  Oh well, I'll get it next time.

One more time - meet at my house and let's see what we can come up with for Mercer Winery and their 'Eagle and Plow' wine brand.  Last week was a little sketchy BUT we've had a week now and I'm sure there's been a lot of thinking and planning for this one last time to wow those Mercers!
